Halloween is almost here….
With the growing childhood obesity epidemic, is it possible for kids to have a fun but healthy Halloween?
Here are some suggestions for healthier treats for the trick-or-treaters:
• Sugar free gum
• Cheese and cracker packages
• Small packages of raisins or nuts
• Package of instant cocoa
• Peanuts in the shell
• Halloween themed pencils, erasers
• Cheese sticks (low fat)
• Single serving boxes of cereal
• Pretzels
• Stickers
• Coins
• Rubber spiders
Encourage the kids to eat a snack before going trick-or-treating so they won’t eat all their candy before they get home. Ration out the candy, allowing only a couple of pieces per day.
Enjoy and Have a Happy Halloween!

Good ideas for cheese and crackers, stickers, pretzels, little toys…and I know my kids would love getting instant hot cocoa packets. I’d be careful with the nuts, though, as they can become a choking hazard for small children.
